Florida Georgia Line

Feb. 20 • Brick Street Bar (Oxford)

If you’ve ever spent any time in towns like Valdosta or Thomasville, Ga., and Tallahassee or Perry, Fla., then you know how fitting it is for a Country band to be called Florida Georgia Line. Even Tallahassee has its redneck moments, despite being Florida’s capitol city and home to FSU (Go Noles!). And Perry … when “The Walmart” came to town in about 2001, it was pretty much the greatest thing to ever happen to that pit stop.

Florida Georgia Line’s first single, “Cruise,” might be a love song, but if you have any imagination at all, chances are you’re picturing “every little farm town” that runs along the states’ border. That song made the boys of Florida Georgia Line (Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard) blow up practically overnight. You’d be hard pressed to listen to one of Cincinnati’s awesome Country stations without hearing “Cruise” within the hour. The duo’s new song, “Shine On,” is just as warm and infectious.

The duo met in Nashville, Tenn., while attending Belmont University (of course) and everything they do is full of twang, 100-percent redneck-ified. Their songs bring the fun, revelry-filled themes of Country stars like Jason Aldean and Eric Church but also feature a bit of an old-school Country vibe.

Florida Georgia Line cruises through Oxford this week and it is the group’s latest of a string of sold-out dates. If you’re lucky enough to have tickets, be sure to bring your cowboy hat.

FLORIDA GEORGIA LINE performs Wednesday, Feb. 20 at Brick Street Bar in Oxford. The event is sold out, but check out venue details here.
