Orgy amicably parted ways with Elementree after the 2000 release of sophomore album Vapor Transmission. The band’s music was used in various films (including Queen of the Damned and Zoolander) leading up to its third album release, Punk Statik Paranoia, which came out on Gordon’s own label, D1 Music, in 2004. By the middle of the decade, the band members decided to take a break to work on other individual projects (besides his own music and DJ work, Gordon had developed a reputation as an engineer/producer, working with artists like Coal Chamber and Linkin Park).
In 2011, Gordon decided to end Orgy’s hiatus and recruited new members for the comeback, including guitarist/bassist Creighton Emrick, who formed the band Vegas in Space in Cincinnati in the late ’90s before moving it to L.A. in the early ’00s. With a solid new lineup in place, Orgy hit the road in 2012, playing across the country to old die-hard fans and making new ones with every show. While retaining the edge of its early releases, the current-edition Orgy (as heard on the 2015 Talk Sick EP) is catchier and the Electronic elements have evolved with the times, reflecting the sound of today’s EDM scene. The band is currently working on a new full-length album, Entropy, which is slated for release later this year.
