With 300,000 new LED lights twinkling in the Festival of Lights display at the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical gardens this year, the zoo will save $30,000 on their Duke Energy Bill. What that means in practical terms is enough power to supply 36 homes for an entire year. And the lights are coo, too. Beginning Friday, everyone is welcome to visit the 2008 light display.

Open nightly 5-9 p.m. (closed Dec. 24-25). Guests can enjoy half-priced admission Dec. 1-3, 8-10 and 15-17. Enjoy Santa’s Village, stage performances of “Winter Wonders” by Madcap Puppet Theatre and opening Nov. 26 is The Polar Express™ 4-D Experience. Add in holiday shopping, hot chocolate and other holiday goodies along with animals galore, and the zoo is the place to be until Jan. 4.

Tickets range from $8 to $22 for admission-only and package tickets including rides. Get details, buy tickets and find nearby bars and restaurants here.
