I can’t imagine anything better than seeing Ira Glass on the big screen, I mean besides seeing him in real life or marrying him, so I’ll settle for what I can get because This American Life is going to be beaming their live stage show into movie theaters across the country via satellite. And Mr. Glass, the silver fox, will be our handsome host leading us through two visual hours that capture the making of a TAL radio program. Look for performances by favorite contributors like Dan Savage, Starlee Kine and Mike Birbiglia. David Rakoff and Dave Hill, also favorites, will also be on hand to conduct a “special investigation.” And there will be a cartoon from Chris Ware, additional visuals by Arthur Jones and a special appearance by Joss Whedon, creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The mania starts at 8 p.m. on April 23 and you can check it out at two different movie theaters in our area: Regal Cinemas in the Deerfield Towne Center (5500 Deerfield Blvd., Mason) or Springdale 18: Cinema de Lux (12064 Springfield Pike, Springdale). Tickets are $20.
