Music: Anwar Sadat with Gazer and Honeyspiders

Sounding like a brutal multi-car crash at the intersection of seminal Washington D.C. Hardcore and the pioneering Post Punk of ’80s/’90s Chicago, Louisville’s Anwar Sadat has been creeping around the Punk Rock underground since 2011.

Sounding like a brutal multi-car crash at the intersection of seminal Washington D.C. Hardcore and the pioneering Post Punk of ’80s/’90s Chicago, Louisville’s Anwar Sadat has been creeping around the Punk Rock underground since 2011, gradually building attention from music blogs and growing a loyal fanbase with its combustible sound and intense live show. The band issued its debut album, Gold, in 2013 on the Louisville label Sophomore Lounge Records and stirred things up at big hometown festivals like Forecastle and Cropped Out in 2014. Anwar Sadat (now a quartet with the installment of Hank Paradis on synth) is touring in support of a new EP, Obedience, which is due for release this Tuesday on Chicago’s Sick Room Records.

9 p.m. Friday. $5. The Woodward Theater, 1404 Main St., Over-the-Rhine, facebook.com/thewoodwardtheater.
