WATCH: The National release video recap of recent Homecoming + MusicNOW music festival weekend in Cincinnati

Cincinnati natives and event organizers offer thanks to those who made the “inaugural” weekend possible

The National's initial two-day outdoor Homecoming music festival in late April was a success for everyone who went — people raved about the music, the riverfront and Suspension Bridge views and the amenities at Smale Riverfront Park. And those involved with its creation seemed pleased with the attendance — people entered the festival grounds more than 16,000 times. The event also drew glowing reviews from major outlets like Billboard, Stereogum and Uproxx.

Today the festival sent out a “Thank You” email to fest-goers and linked to a Facebook post and beautiful video recap of the festival that makes Cincinnati look pretty damn good.

With such a seemingly successful event, will there be a Homecoming 2? For our recent cover package about the event, Bryce Dessner had told CityBeat in advance that "we're trying it this year and we'll see how it goes." There’s no official word from the Homecoming camp yet about its potential future (Dessner’s ongoing annual MusicNOW seems a lock to return next year), but the “Thank You” email began with this line: “The inaugural Homecoming + MusicNOW weekend was a dream come true.”

“Inaugural” would seem to indicate more to come? Stay tuned!
