Mardi Gras and booze go together like beads and … you know. But Mardi Gras and food don’t always have the same visceral connection in one’s mind. Findlay Market is trying to change all that with their seventh annual Findlay Market Mardi Gras challenges this Sunday. Market merchants will be competing in several categories: best decorations, costumes, food and spirit. Also, the Findlay Market Mardi Gras King and Queen will be crowned, with the merchants’ first and second place winners announced afterwards. Music will be provided throughout the day by Lagniappe, Robin Lacy and DeZydeco, Ricky Nye Inc. and The Medicine Men. And it wouldn’t be Findlay Market if food wasn’t heavily involved. All the merchants will be featuring Cajun specialties and a traditional crawfish boil will run noon-3 p.m. There will also be a wine-tasting fund-raiser to benefit the Market OTR Biergarten. The event runs 10:30 a.m.-4 p.m. at Findlay Market.
