Despite a recent clueless review from the Indie tastemakers at Pitchfork (which should be worn as a badge of honor), Northern Kentucky’s Daniel Martin Moore continues to ride a wave of acclaim for his gorgeous debut for Sub Pop Records, the dreamy, folksy Stray Age. Later this month, Moore should pick up some more fans and CD sales as he begins a string of dates with unique Indie cellist/singer/songwriter Ben Sollee (a fellow Kentuckian whose Learning To Bend album caused Paste magazine to name him one of their favorite songwriters of 2008). Given the two songwriters’ likeminded sounds and approaches, expect some cool crossover collaborations during the tour, which stops at The Mad Hatter on Feb. 18. Before he hits the road, Moore will be doing an in-store appearance at Shake-It Records in Northside on Valentine’s Day. The show is a release party of sorts — the Shake-It label is releasing a vinyl version of Stray Age, which includes a bonus track and a four-song, 7-inch vinyl EP with alternate takes and demos. Also performing and getting in the release party spirit is excellent local Indie Folk crew Frontier Folk Nebraska, which is releasing its new one, Pearls, with an official release show at The Southgate House Parlour on Feb. 21. FFN kicks off the fun Saturday at 7 p.m.
