“The best part about being a comedian is hanging out with other comics,” Chris Franjola says. It’s that camaraderie, along with a sharp wit, that led to his work as a writer and performer on Chelsea Lately. Franjola arrived in Los Angeles from New York and met 19-year-old comedian Chelsea Handler while doing an open mic night. “Chelsea and I were friends for a long time. After she wrote her book [My Horizontal Life] she started getting some TV attention and did Girls Behaving Badly, and after that The Chelsea Handler Show, which I worked on, and from there Chelsea Lately and that just kind of caught on.”
