How much Cincinnati spirit is left in a local native who moved away when they were 9? For many years, comedian Tom Segura followed the hapless Bengals obsessively. “But they were so bad for so long I lost interest in them and almost lost interest in the whole National Football League,” he says. Segura is anxious to return to town, not so much for the chili, but to try out some new bits at one of his favorite clubs, Go Bananas. “It’s phenomenal,” he says. “I’m just excited to do new material in a great room.”
You’ll probably hear about his latest pet peeve — guys wearing cowboy hats. “They have the whole persona,” Segura says. “Like, 'Pardon me ma’am,' or ‘I’ll tell ya what.’ No, I’ll tell you what, you look ridiculous right now. If you’re going to wear a cowboy hat you’re going to have to go all the way. You should have livestock around you, settle all of your disputes with a pistol and ride a horse absolutely everywhere.” Segura performs Thursday-Sunday Go Bananas in Montgomery.
