Politically savvy comedy fans may recognize Christian Finnegan from his many appearances on Current TV’s Countdown with Keith Olberman. Viewers of that program however, shouldn’t expect a great deal of political humor in his stage act. “I find a lot of political comedy to be awful,” he says. “It’s corny. It’s usually just dick jokes with a political figure stuck in. People would talk about Monica Lewinsky’s dress and call that political humor. No, you’re just talking about jizz.” Finnegan says he likes to concentrate on social issues that everyone can relate to. For the past year or so, he has been somewhat sequestered in Connecticut, filming episodes of the TBS sit-com Are We There Yet? His shows at Funny Bone on the Levee this week kick off his first tour in some time, and he’s ready to talk about everything from personal experiences down to the finer points of trivial knowledge. “I find that people who can’t threaten people physically, can threaten them with facts and knowledge.” Christian Finnegan performs at Funny Bone on the Levee Thursday-Sunday.
