T-shirts are as essential to the summer experience as creamy whip, mosquitoes and swim trunks. Two new, uniquely Cincinnati designs are now available at extremely reasonable prices.
The first is a cheeky little number borne from the city's recent unrest, designed and sold by the folks at Buzz Coffeeshop & CD-o-Rama in Corryville. The front features the Buzz logo and name, while the back says, "I survived the Cincinnati riots and all I stole was this lousy t-shirt."
Two windows at Buzz were broken during the April violence, and owner John Knodle decided to sell the shirts as a way to pay for the damage. He was hoping city repair funds might come his way, but so far no luck, so the shirts have become a fundraiser of sorts.
Knodle says he printed 300 shirts and has less than 100 left. They're white, 100 percent cotton and go for $10.
The other item up for consideration is a tie-dyed comment on the Cincinnati Bengals' poor fortunes sold by Blue Ash Blues in, of all places, Blue Ash (as well as Trader's World in Monroe).
The "Spirit of Paul Brown Bengal Inferno Shirt" is dyed in tiger stripes of orange and black with a bright splash of yellow on the front and back — or, as store owner Cliff Stubbers says, "The orange and black are in support of the team. The streaks of yellow are for management."
The 100 percent cotton shirts are $10 for short sleeves, $12.50 for long sleeves and $7.50 for a child's size.
