I’m not sure what to make of this latest edition in the annals of Texas Chainsaw lore. There has already been a contemporary reboot of the franchise featuring Jessica Biel, which wasn’t half bad (as these things go), that was then followed by a prequel with Jordana Brewster (the less said, the better) and now we’ve got this 3D installment from John Lussenhop (Takers), which explores another contemporary angle — this time, a young woman (Alexandra Daddario) learns that she must travel to Texas to claim an inherited mansion that we all know was the home of a certain leathery evil back in the 1970s. We know what comes next, but do we care? Now in theaters. (R) Not screened for review
