Run Like Hell: Dress in costume for this annual nocturnal 5K run through the Walnut Hills Cemetery. Witches Ball: Celebrate Halloween with a whole-house celebration at the Southgate House. Kenton County Parks Halloween Weekend
: Features scary and silly Halloween fun for everyone. The Haunted Halloween Trail is a moderately scary trail populated with all manner of demons. Follow the lit jack-olanterns to the trail’s beginning. A hayride takes you back to your car from the end. Lines open from 7-10:30 p.m. Oct. 23 and the trail stays open until everyone’s gone through. Bring your roundest pumpkin, free of any alterations, to the Great Pumpkin Races. Participants roll their pumpkins down an incline to compete for the candy and other goodies. Registration is noon-12:45 p.m. and the races begin at 1 p.m. Oct. 24. Both events are free, but participants are encouraged to donate canned goods and personal hygiene supplies for Kenton County’s needy residents. The races are at Shelterhouse 2. Poe: The Cincy Shakespeare Company presents this one-man show about the life and works of Edgar Allan Poe. Halloween Events for the Whole Family

Blue Manatee Spooky Storytime: Join the Boo! Manatee for a spooky Halloween Storytime! Come dressed in your costume if you dare, and join in some Halloween fun! 10:30-11a.m. Oct. 31 Blue Manatee Children’s Bookstore, 3054 Madison Road, Oakley, 513-731-2665.

Crime Time Theater: The Addams Family would like to invite you to join them for a one-hour train ride aboard the Lebanon M&M Railway and dinner at the historic Golden Lamb. Ghosts of Pirate Cove: Trick-or-treat throughout the Newport Aquarium and see pirate ghosts sword fighting underwater and underwater pumpkin carving at shows. Halloween Nights at Parky’s Farm: Parky’s transforms from farmland to a Halloween play land but without any scary monsters. Halloween Spooktacular: Enjoy baked goods by Silverton Blockwatch, wine available by the glass or bottle, cash bar, free juice for kids. A balloon artist and face painting will be available. Free. 6-10 p.m. Oct. 30. Meiers Wine Cellars, 6955 Plainfield Road.

HallZOOween: Discover the creepy and the crawly at Cincinnati Zoo. Little ghouls and goblins ages 12 and under can trick-ortreat their way around the Zoo at a variety of Treat Stations.

Howl-O-Fest: Kings Island presents this kids’ Halloween bash with a costume parade, an indoor maze, mask painting, trick-ortreating, a dance party, a story-telling witch, a talking pumpkin, food and more, including a petting zoo. $27.99. It’s The Great Pumpkin-Carving, Charlie Luken!: Drop off your pre-carved pumpkins between 5 and 7 p.m. and at 8 p.m. one lucky winner will be announced based on the decision by a panel of judges led by former Cincinnati Mayor Charlie Luken. Jack-O-Lantern Junction at EnterTrainment Junction: Check out the well-lit maze in an old Victorian mansion with cobwebs and “haunted” rooms, plus a walk-through featuring a mirror maze, clown room, chain-link maze and a curtain maze. Laser Spooktacular/Dark Side of the Moon: Drake Planetarium presents this Halloween-inspired laser show along with Pink Floyd’s classic. Pumpkin Patch Express: Take the Lebanon Mason Monroe Railroad to the Schappacher Farm to go through a corn maze, pet farm animals, visit the gift shop and pick a pumpkin. William Howard Taft Historic Site Halloween Open House: A park guide in Victorian garb will discuss the origin of Halloween, followed by a stroll through a makeshift cemetery and an invitation to attend Alphonso Taft’s funeral. Augusta Ghost Tour: The city of Augusta, Ky., hosts their annual Augusta Ghost Tour. Tours depart from the old 1811 jail and travel the streets of Augusta, stopping at houses where the owners tell stories about the spirits living inside. Then the tour proceeds out to “Long Stretch Road,” where some strange things have been happening. Reservations are required. $6, $3 children under 12. 7-11 p.m. Oct. 24. Pumpkins on Parade Haunted Festival
