After many movie-less months, films will return to the big screen at Kenwood Theatre this April. And to celebrate its re-opening, the cinema is welcoming guests to enjoy a week of free "repertory film favorites" from April 23-30.

"Our free movie week at the Kenwood, along with our distinctively featured programming at both the Esquire Theatre and Mariemont Theatre (both open daily) is a continual reminder to Cincinnati moviegoers to #SupportLocal; and, we are excited to welcome guests back to the Kenwood Theatre — viewing films the way they were meant to be seen — on the big screen," reads a release from EMK Theatres, the management group behind the Esquire, Mariemont and Kenwood.

What might be included in the theatre's list of movie faves? Genres include family films like cult-classic The Goonies, and more recent animated film The Lego Movie; horror/thriller films Twister and Annabelle; as well as the 2018 romantic comedy "Crazy Rich Asians" — something for every movie-lover.

Tickets are first come, first served, and are available only at the theater's box office.

Over the course of their closure, the theater has orchestrated a series of COVID-19 policies and protocols to keep their guests safe, including requiring masks in public spaces, hand sanitizer and wipe availability, specialized cleaning, encouraging social distancing and spacing out theater seating.

The theater's concessions will be open, offering what the release refers to as the "Best Popcorn in Town!" as well snacks and boozy bevs for folks 21 and up.
