Ok, Cincinnati, here’s yet another opportunity for our fair city to be highlighted by USA Today.
“10 Best,” USA Today’s travel information hub that frequently relies on reader input, has included Findlay Market among its nominees for best public market in its readers’ choice poll, and your vote could help it nab top billing.
“A visit to a public market often offers insight into a community through its foods and artisan goods,” USA Today editors write.
We can’t argue with that. Findlay Market is a critical connection between neighborhoods that puts all of Cincinnati’s best attributes out for enjoyment. Ohio’s oldest surviving municipal market house, Findlay Market brings together local produce, meat, cheese, flower and specialty-item sellers into a lively, affordable marketplace that’s become a Cincinnati institution.
“Situated in the heart of the historic Over-the-Rhine neighborhood, the market features more than 50 full-time merchants selling a range of ingredients and prepared foods,” USA Today says.
Findlay Market is one of 20 locations vying for USA Today readers’ votes for the best public market in the nation. Competition includes the Chicago French Market, Pike Place Market in Seattle, and Reading Terminal Market in Philadelphia.
Readers can vote for Findlay Market once per day until noon April 12. USA Today will announce the top ten on April 23.
Two other Cincinnati gems already have earned honors from USA Today readers for 2021. Fountain Square is the No. 7 public square, while Smale Riverfront Park is the No. 5 river walk in the nation.
