Live racing at Belterra Park begins April 29.

If you've been itching to play the ponies, this week is your time to shine. Belterra Park (formerly known as River Downs) in Anderson Township/California kicks off its live racing season Thursday, April 29.

Races are scheduled Tuesdays through Fridays, with a daily first post set for 12:35 p.m. The season will run through October, and the park is open 24 hours a day.

To slow the spread of coronavirus, Belterra Park will limit capacity to allow more room for physical distancing.

In addition to its regular season, the park will host drive-through wagering for the Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks this week. From noon-6 p.m. Friday, April 30, and Saturday, May 1, gamblers can place their bets by driving through the parking garage and then watch the races at home. Winners can redeem their tickets beginning at 9 a.m. Sunday, May 2.

Live racing will not take place at Belterra Park on April 30 and May 1.
