Want to enjoy some guac on The Rock?
You won't be physically eating your avocado dip off the torso of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, but he will reimburse you for your guacamole May 1-5, but only if you order it at a participating restaurant with some of his Teremana Tequila.
The initiative is a way to get people out to support local restaurants, with Teremena reimbursing up to $1 million of guacamole purchases nationwide. All you need to do is grab an order of guac for dine-in or take-out and a Teremena cocktail and then upload your itemized receipt to guacontherock.com (some restaurant may also have a special QR code).
You'll be reimbursed up to $10 per person for a single guacamole order.
“No better way to celebrate my 397th birthday than with all of us helping our favorite local restaurants get back on their feet, all while drinking some Teremana and enjoying our favorite guacamole," says Johnson in a press release.
The Rock's birthday is May 2 — making him, predictably, a Taurus, and also 49 years old instead of his jokey 397.
That date falls very close to Cinco de Mayo, which Americans frequently honor (even if they don't know it's a holiday to mark the defeat of the French troops by the Mexican army in 1862) by getting drunk on tequila and eating Mexican food. Now you can synergistically celebrate both.
Johnson's Teremana is described as an "ultra-premium, small-batch tequila crafted at the highest peaks of the Jalisco highland mountains." The name translates to "spirit of the Earth," using a blend of Latin and Polynesian (The Rock's mother is Samoan), and it is made from "fully mature, naturally sweet agave slow roasted in small traditional brick ovens and distilled in handmade copper pot stills."
Find local restaurants that carry Teremena Tequila at teremana.com. Then check their menus to see if they also offer guacamole. For example, Cancun Mexican Restaurant on the river in Newport serves both, as does Casa Figueroa in Pleasant Ridge and Taqueria El Valle Verde in MainStrasse.
