Sink your teeth into this: Cincinnati is full of vampires.
Ok, maybe not actual vampires. But apparently, we do have the kinds of things that would help a bloodsucker feel at home outside of a Sunnydale hellmouth.
National yard-care service Lawn Love recently shared a new study that dives into the best and worst U.S. cities for vampires (we're not sure why a lawn-care company is studying this stuff, either, but we're just going with it). For 2021, Cincinnati is the No. 35 best city for vampires, with an overall score of 40.19 (for comparison, top city Naperville, Illinois, has an overall score of 54.54).
The Queen City scores pretty highly in Lawn Love's three main metrics: food and drink (population size, blood centers, blood drives), lair safety (casket suppliers, homes with basements, cloud cover) and deterrents (low numbers for yearly sunshine, herb and spice shops, garlic festivals, Christian churches).
Cincinnati is No. 18 in lair safety, and No. 21 in both food and drink and in fewest deterrents.
For all Ohio cities, Columbus comes in overall at No. 8 (its low sunshine and few garlic fests contribute to its high rank), Toledo is No. 30, Akron is No. 38, Cleveland is No. 44 and Dayton is No. 61.
In Kentucky, Louisville is No. 65, while Lexington is No. 78.
On the heels of its study, Lawn Love does urge readers to donate blood, if they're able, as the United States is experiencing a blood shortage due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
