School districts around Greater Cincinnati are getting some statewide kudos.
Neighborhood guide Niche has released its 2022 list of the best school districts in Ohio, with Indian Hill Exempted School District tops in the entire state.
In its write-up, Niche gives Indian Hill an A+ in nine of 10 categories, including academics, health and safety, and food. The district's only lower score — a C+ — is in the diversity category. According to U.S. News & World Report, the student body at Indian Hill is 79% white, 10% Asian and 4% Black, and minority students make up 21% of enrollment. Niche says that only 3.3% of students receive a free or reduced lunch at school.
Niche says that Indian Hill "has 2,140 students in grades K-12 with a student-teacher ratio of 14 to 1. According to state test scores, 91% of students are at least proficient in math and 89% in reading."
According to Niche's other research, Indian Hill also is the No. 2 safest school district and the No. 3 best for teaching in Ohio. The average SAT score within the district is 1340, while the average ACT score is 31.
Several other Greater Cincinnati school districts rank highly on Niche's 2022 list of the best in Ohio. Sycamore Community School District comes in at No. 4, Mason City School District is No. 9, Wyoming City Schools is No. 11, Mariemont City Schools is No. 16, and Madeira City School District is No. 20.

Many of the districts on Niche's best schools list are in villages and towns that had also earned Niche's best places to live designation. For example, Niche had previously given the Village of Indian Hill, this year's top school district, an overall A+ in its rankings of the best places to live in Ohio. There, the median household income is more than $207,000, while the median home value is more than $955,000, Niche says.
Madeira was the No. 3 best place to live in Ohio, while Montgomery and Blue Ash both made the top 10. Five additional Greater Cincinnati towns landed in the top 20 on that list.
