When it comes to first dates, there’s a lot at stake...or is it steak? If you're in the market for your soulmate in Ohio, you'd better start taking notes.
A recent survey conducted by OnePoll for JBS USA, a food processing company that is a subsidiary of the world’s largest beef and pork processor, revealed in an email that 56% of love-seeking Ohio residents would refuse to date someone who liked their steak prepared in a different way than they did.
OnePoll, which is a UK-based marketing research company, asked 2,000 respondents their opinions on “meat-cutes” and found that Buckeyes aren’t so different from the rest of the nation. The national average for steak and romantic partner preferences within the United States was also 56%, according to the survey.
Don’t discount how important discussing steak can be on a first date yet! After all, the survey also found that Midwesterners consume 10 ounces of steak each month and that 73% of Midwesterners prefer to handle the grill at cookouts.
The same study found that 64% of Americans prefer their steak medium or medium-well, so if that describes your favorite steak, it might be easier to find someone with the same preferences. Unfortunately, there’s no such luck for those of you die-hard well-done steak lovers — you share the same tastes as only 10% of the country.
So if you’re really worried that your date is one of the judgy 56%, well...maybe it’s a good idea to just get burgers instead. Check out CityBeat’s slideshow on where to find the perfect burger in Cincinnati or our roundup of the best BBQ spots in town.
