As COVID restrictions ease across the state and attractions adjust to a post-quarantine lifestyle, the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden has decided to end its timed entry policy.

Starting today, July 1, the zoo won't require general admission guests to reserve a certain time when they purchase a ticket. However, they'll still be required to pick a single date. (The Cincinnati Zoo no longer requires members to make a reservation to visit at all.)

Single day tickets are good for any time between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. on a specific day.

“We strongly recommend buying tickets online, as far in advance as possible,” said Cincinnati Zoo Director Thane Maynard in a release. “You get the best price and avoid waiting in line when you get to the zoo.”

Dynamic ticket pricing options online allow guests to purchase cheaper admission on days where there isn't a high visitor demand.

Masks are optional for fully vaccinated guests, but are still required for everyone in areas where there is close human-to-animal contact.

“Pack a mask if you want to participate in giraffe feedings, pet a goat or interact with the Galapagos tortoises,” Maynard said. “They will also be required for private animal encounters and behind-the-scenes tours.  We are pursuing vaccinations for animals that participate in all of these programs and should be able to lift restrictions once they are protected.”

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, a “fully vaccinated” person is one who is two weeks past their second dose of a two-dose vaccine (Pfizer and Moderna) or two weeks after a single-dose vaccine (Johnson & Johnson).

The Cincinnati Zoo was recently named the Best Zoo in America by readers of USA Today and its 10Best poll.
