Many people could use a little help in the love department, especially after recent years. Luckily, a performance that could rev up Cincinnati's engines is on the horizon.

The '70s Love Jam tour will bring smooth, smooth Soul and R&B to the Queen City on Friday, Feb. 11, at Heritage Bank Center downtown. Happening just before Valentine's Day, the tour features four acts aimed to make concertgoers swoon. Tickets go on sale  at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 5, at Heritage Bank Center and ticketmaster.com.

Soul and Disco group The Emotions formed in Chicago and became one of the most influential "girl groups" of the '60s and '70s. With early guidance from Oscar-winning Shaft songwriter Isaac Hayes and later partnerships with Earth Wind & Fire's Maurice White, the group released hits like "Best of My Love" and "Boogie Wonderland."

The New Stylistics began as The Stylistics in Philadelphia, with remaining members keeping the music alive. Getting attention for their soothing harmonies, The Stylistics released plenty of hits, including "You Are the Everything," "Break Up to Make Up" and "You Make Me Feel Brand New."

The Whispers formed in Los Angeles and had hits throughout the '60s, '70s and '80s. The group has had the same lineup since 1973 and has spawned songs like "It's a Love Thing," "Rock Steady" and "And the Beat Goes On," which rapper Will Smith sampled for his 1997 song "Miami."

Howard Hewett Jr.'s tenor has been the centerpiece of the group Shalamar as well as for his own solo career.  Shalamar's grooves include "A Night to Remember," "This Is for the Lover in You" and "Dancing in the Sheets," which was featured on the Footloose soundtrack in 1985.
