The Toadies, one of the hardest-touring Alt-Rock bands from the 1990s, has finally rescheduled its big Rubberneck anniversary tour for 2022, and Greater Cincinnati is back on the guest list.
The Texas band will perform on Oct. 14 at Madison Theater in Covington. Tickets from this fall's original date will be honored, and new tickets are available now.
The band announced the new tour dates on its website and social media channels Tuesday.
"We are beyond excited to announce our rescheduled Rubberneck tour dates with Reverend Horton Heat for fall of 2022," the band says on its website. "Postponing 2021 as the Delta Variant surged was one of the most difficult decisions we’ve ever had to make. For the safety of the band, crew, and fans, we felt it was the best thing to do."
Reverend Horton Heat and Nashville Pussy will join the Toadies in Covington.
In August, the Toadies announced the band had cancelled nearly all of its concerts for its 25th-anniversary tour for Rubberneck, the 1994 album that spurred the band's popularity. The band originally was set to play Madison Theater in Covington on Oct. 13.
Like Garth Brooks and so many other performers in late summer and early fall, the Toadies cited the rise in COVID-19 cases around the country for the decision to halt the tour.
"It is with a heavy heart that we announce that we have made the difficult decision to postpone our upcoming Rubberneck tour due to health and safety concerns. Covid-19’s Delta variant, besides being highly contagious, has also overwhelmed hospitals in many areas, including our home state of Texas," the band posted to Facebook in August. "With so many unknowns, Covid’s surging numbers, and hospital shortages, we felt that the safest thing for us to do is postpone our tour. This was a choice made out of an abundance of caution for our crew, venue staff and especially our fans."
