People of Elmwood Place, rejoice: Bridges Nepali Cuisine announced it's going to open a third location in the neighborhood.
"Bridges is excited to open its third location to serve the beautiful elmwood neighborhood!!! We will be open soon! Thank you for your love and support," the restaurant wrote in an April 17 Instagram post.
The post shows a photo of owners Ashak Chipalu and his parents, Rose and Manoj, embracing in front of the new location at 6304 Vine Street, formerly occupied by Mikey's Kitchen.
The Nepali restaurant began as a food cart at Findlay Market in 2015. There, they gained a loyal following of locals, all hungry for the Chipalus’ authentic style of Newari tribe cooking that’s particular to their native windy valleys of Kathmandu.
Bridges opened its first restaurant in Northside in February 2017, in the space formerly occupied by Melt Eclectic Cafe. With a full dining room and outdoor patio seating, Bridges grew in popularity so much that, two years later, the family opened a second location right by the Hamilton County Courthouse to cater to the Business District’s lunch rush. In between then and the recent announcement of their upcoming Elmwood Place restaurant, Bridges began selling their Nepali dumplings called momos, frozen, for retail sale through Jungle Jim’s International Market.
Spicy, savory and packed with fresh herbs, the menu at Bridges is inclusive (vegans and carnivores will both find many delectable options on the menu) and presented in a manner that’s meant to appeal to any diner’s palate. For those who have not had the pleasure, Nepali cooking can be contextualized as a hybrid between Chinese and North Indian cuisine, which is appropriate given Nepal’s geographic relation to the two countries. Lentils, cilantro, onion, ginger, garlic and a variety of assertive spices can be found in a number of Nepali favorites at the table.
No opening date has been set, but CityBeat staff hungrily await Bridges' newest location in Elmwood.
