Coney Island will transform into a haven for artists and art-lovers June 3-5 when
Summerfair Cincinnati returns to the park for its 55th year.
Launched in Mount Adams in 1968, the nonprofit aims to support young artists and community-based art programs through exhibitions, scholarships and awards.
"What started as a small art fair’s salute to the opening of Cincinnati’s Playhouse in the Park has grown into one of the oldest continuous art fairs in the country, drawing more than 20,000 art enthusiasts to see and purchase the works of artists from across the United States and Canada," says Summerfair on its website.
The work of more than 300 artists will be featured across 12 juried categories: photography, painting, drawing/printmaking, wood, metal, sculpture, glass, ceramics, fibers, leather, jewelry and mixed media. There will also be a special "Gourmet Arts" zone with food and drink options and live music throughout the weekend.
This year, Summerfair has partnered with local HighGrain Brewing to showcase the commemorative poster on a beer can and Summerfair beer.
Hours are noon-7 p.m. June 3, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. June 4 and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. June 5. Single day tickets are $10, cash-only, at the gate. A multi-day pass is $15 and is available at summerfair.org. Kids 12 and under get in free.
