After a "weeks-long" animal cruelty investigation, more than 90 dogs have been seized from a home in Salt Creek Township, Indiana.
The Franklin County Sheriff's Department said that on July 15, they served a search warrant on the residence of a male in his 50s and a female in her 40s and discovered the dogs — mostly boxers, pit bulls and pit mixes.
The animals were removed with the help of the Franklin County Small Animal Control Officer, Franklin County Humane Society, Franklin County Health Department, Indiana Board of Animal Health, Ohio County Animal Shelter, SPCA of Cincinnati and others.
The sheriff's department says in a statement that the dogs were taken to the Metamora Volunteer Fire Department "where veterinarians examined the animals and provided any necessary care."
No charges have been filed against the owners and the sheriff's department says, "Once the investigation is completed, Deputies will forward their findings to the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office for consideration of what, if any, formal charges will be filed against the couple."
The SPCA of Cincinnati received one dog from the seizure, Jasper, who is currently up for adoption (as of press time). The Franklin County Indiana Humane Society says it ended up with eight of the dogs and the rest went to other rescues, including a partner rescue in Atlanta.
