Fear is about to settle onto the grounds of Middletown's Land of Illusion Adventure Park, transforming the space from the summertime-themed Aqua Adventures Waterpark into a Haunted Scream Park.
And to usher in the change, organizers are kicking off opening night with some micro wrestling.
The Micro Wrestling Foundation is taking over the park on Sept. 9 with a "full-scale, WWE-type event supported by an entire cast under five feet tall," per Land of Illusion. Wrestling starts at 7 p.m. and admission is $25.
As the cast of MWF welcomes you to "suplex city," attendees can also gear up for an evening of screams as they make their way through six different haunted attractions: Phobia, a self-proclaimed "room of terrors;" Temple of Terror, an ancient-Egypt-themed haunted house; Killer Klowns, a 3D maze full of the titular clowns; Dr. Psycho's Haunted Estate, a labyrinthine haunted hospital; the Middletown Haunted Trail, called the "longest and scariest trail in the Midwest;" and Dysphoria, which offers some kind of "mind-bending" experience.
Land of Illusion promises "'live' spooks, lunatics, and chainsaw-wielding madmen, guaranteeing you a different fright each night."
The MWF event isn't just a one-off to bring guests to the grand opening; Land of Illusion hosts themed events, live music and even has an on-site bar throughout the haunting season. Weekend entertainment includes everything from DJs and boxing matches to themed nights, like Witches & Warlocks Weekend.
For liquid courage, visit the Voodoo Lounge, which serves up a variety of booze. The Creepy Cafe is all ages, and includes "bubbling sodas, haunted hot chocolate, horrifying hot dogs, and much more."
Land of Illusion Haunted Scream Park hours are 7 p.m.-1 a.m. Friday and Saturday and 7-11 p.m. select Thursdays and Sundays Sept. 9-Oct. 30. Tickets start at $55 for weekend admission ($80 for a fast pass) and include access to all six attractions and whatever events are happening that night. There are also event-specific tickets for $25 and season passes for $99.
After the Haunted Scream Park closes for the season, Land of Illusion will open its holiday-themed Christmas Glow.
