Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky are once again proving worthy of being named top-notch travel destinations.

As everyone looks into their vacation plans for next year, Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky are once again proving themselves worthy as top-notch travel destinations.

Along with the likes of the Arts District in Los Angeles, NoMad Manhattan in New York City, Las Vegas and Boston, Condé Nast Traveler named the Tri-State as one of the best 23 places in the United States to travel to in 2023, giving a lot of love to Northern Kentucky, in particular.

The magazine points to the bourbon culture of Northern Kentucky and icon Molly Wellman, writing, "Ten years ago, Cincinnati bar maven Molly Wellman crossed the Ohio River to open Old Kentucky Bourbon Bar in Covington, Kentucky. The move set off a chain reaction of upscale bourbon bar and eclectic distillery openings in recent years, making the region a must-visit for whiskey lovers," going on to mention the Neeley Family Distillery in Sparta and their long history in distilling, Second Sights Spirits in Ludlow and New Riff Distillery in Newport.

Condé Nast Traveler recommends checking in to North by Hotel Covington, which recently underwent a luxury expansion, and taking a walk to Agave & Rye for some tacos and slushies or Libby's Southern Comfort for some goetta hush puppies.

It also nods to the forthcoming rooftop bar Opal and its owner, Bill Whitlow. Whitlow also owns Wenzel's Whiskey, which offers hands-on bourbon blending and bottling experiences to its guests.

And, not to leave Cincinnati out, Condé Nast Traveler recommends crossing the river into Over-the-Rhine to visit Ghost Baby, an underground speakeasy located in a former lager tunnel.
