Canadian indie rock band The New Pornographers will be bringing a bevy of new songs to their performance at Cincinnati's Memorial Hall on May 8.

The band is set to release its ninth studio album, Continue as a Guest, on March 31 via Merge Records.

Formed in 1997, The New Pornographers' current lineup consists of music industry heavyweights Neko Case, Kathryn Calder, John Collins (of Destroyer), Todd Fancey, Joe Seiders and Carl Newman.

According to a press release, The New Pornographers' upcoming album addresses the isolation and other negative aspects of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as what it's like to navigate the complexities of social media.

“The idea of continuing as a guest felt very apropos to the times,” Newman says in the release. “Feeling out of place in culture, in society — not feeling like a part of any zeitgeist, but happy to be separate and living your simple life, your long fade-out. Find your own little nowhere, find some space to fall apart, continue as a guest.”

The band's performance at Memorial Hall will be a part of the venue's annual Longworth-Anderson Series that features performances from artists across a number of genres, including Americana, hip hop, blues, pop, indie rock and more. Each event in the series will also feature pre-concert receptions with live local music and food and drinks from local establishments.

Tickets for The New Pornographers' show at Memorial Hall go on sale at 10 a.m. on Jan. 13 on memorialhallotr.com.

The New Pornographers perform at 8 p.m. on May 8 at Memorial Hall, 1225 Elm St., Over-the-Rhine. Wild Pink opens the show. More info: memorialhallotr.com.
