A new shop offering handcrafted bubble teas and pastries will soon open in Over-the-Rhine. Qlicious will open its second brick-and-mortar location at 1505 Vine St. Sunday, Jan. 15.

Qlicious, whose original location is in Liberty Township, specializes in flavored teas and Asian-style pastries. The menu features milk teas, like taro and matcha lattes, as well as fruit teas, like peach and Sakura lychee, with toppings ranging from tapioca to coffee jelly along with a variety of baked goods. Customers can choose how sweet they want their drink, and the shop also offers non-dairy alternatives.

Shop owner Jerry Liu moved to the Cincinnati area in 2018 and said it was difficult for him to find authentic bubble tea.

“So, I decided to open my own shop to provide myself and others with different types of milk tea, fruit tea, and Asian-style pastries,” Liu said in a press release.

Liu is also the owner of Queens Bakery in Mason. He will bring some of the bakery’s pastries, like custard buns, Hokkaido sweet cheese bread and Japanese cheesecake, to the Over-the-Rhine location to pair with the extensive bubble tea menu.

In addition to teas and pastries, Qlicious also offers smoothies, crème brûlée and flavored Yakult, which is a Japanese probiotic milk drink.

The bubble tea shop is moving into 3CDC's Perseverance project, a $13.9-million collaboration between 3CDC and Over-the-Rhine Community Housing that saw the renovation of three historic buildings into a mixed-use development with affordable housing and street-level commercial spaces.

“Qlicious offers more than just a drink – it’s also a fun experience for customers, and we’re glad to have something like it in the neighborhood,” 3CDC senior commercial leasing officer Lindzie Gunnels said in the release.

Qlicious will be open Wednesday through Sunday from noon to 7 p.m.
