It looks like the misdemeanor charge against Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon will be dismissed.
Per a Feb. 3 report from 700 WLW-AM, the Cincinnati prosecutor's office has formally requested to drop an aggravated menacing charge against Mixon. A warrant had been issued for Mixon's arrest on Feb. 2.
Hamilton County Municipal Court judge Curt Kissinger reportedly told 700 WLW-AM that he would dismiss the charge once the alleged victim had been notified. As of press time at noon Feb. 3, it is unclear why the charge reportedly is being dropped.

The warrant charged Mixon with allegedly pointing a gun at a woman and making threats on Walnut Street in Cincinnati. According to documents filed Feb. 2 in Hamilton County Municipal Court, Mixon allegedly told the woman, "You should be popped in the face. I should shoot you. The police [can't] get me" while pointing a gun at her. The charge is a misdemeanor.
According to the filed complaint, the alleged incident happened on Jan. 21, the day before the Bengals beat the Buffalo Bills 27-10 in the AFC divisional round. No attorney is listed for Mixon in the documents.
"The club is aware misdemeanor charges have been raised against Joe Mixon. The club is investigating the situation and will not comment further at this time," the Bengals said in a Feb. 2 statement.
Mixon's agent Peter Schaffer released a statement Thursday night claimed that the charge would be dropped on Friday.
"It was a rush to judgement," Schaffer said, per a Feb. 2 statement received by NFL Network writers. "They're dropping the charges first thing in the morning. I really feel that police have an obligation before they file charges – because of the damage that can be done to the person's reputation – to do their work.
This is not the first misdemeanor charge against Mixon, who is 26 years old. In 2014, a surveillance video captured Mixon punching a female student in the face, knocking her out at a restaurant in Oklahoma. At the time, Mixon, then 18, was attending the University of Oklahoma. He was charged with misdemeanor assault, suspended from the football team for one year and was ordered to perform community service and undergo counseling as part of a plea agreement.
The Cincinnati Bengals drafted Mixon during the second round in 2017. Over his career with the Bengals, he's rushed for a total of 5,378 yards and 40 touchdowns. During the 2022 season, he had 814 rushing yards and seven touchdowns, including five touchdowns during the Nov. 6 win against the Carolina Panthers. He has two contract years remaining with Cincinnati.
