Rain and the possibility of inclement weather are behind the decision of festival organizers to cancel the annual Bockfest Parade Friday night, as well as planned activities at Bockfest Hall at Findlay Playground.

"Due to the current weather forecast and safety of our goats, monks, and Bock Beer enthusiasts, Bockfest organizers have made the difficult decision to cancel the Bockfest Parade and all programming at Bockfest Hall on Friday evening," reads a press release.

Featuring lots of goats, monks, the Sausage Queen and other weirdly wonderful costumed revelers, the parade is a fan favorite and the celebratory kickoff to the annual Bockfest, a celebration of springtime and Cincinnati's brewing heritage. But, according to the National Weather Service post in Wilmington, Greater Cincinnati faces the possibility of strong-to-severe storms moving throughout the area, as well as wind gusts up to 70 mph and the chance of a few tornadoes.

This also means live music at the Bockfest Hall stage is canceled, as well as Bockfest Drag Bingo in the activity tent. However, activities at participating bars and those planned for Saturday and Sunday will still happen, say organizers. You can see a full schedule of Bockfest activities here.
