Starting April 4, FRUITBLOOD wine will be available in bars and retail shops across Ohio. The Cincinnati-based natural winery, best known for crafting innovative sparkling fruit wines and pét-nats, reached a statewide distribution agreement with Cavalier Distributing.

FRUITBLOOD says, with Cavalier Distributing, they’ll have access to a comprehensive distribution network that allows them to reach new markets in Ohio and it also means they can better focus on making wine and leaving the distribution logistics to the professionals.

The winery was launched in 2021 by Josh Elliott, a former head brewer at Urban Artifact in Northside, a popular destination for fruit beers. Elliott says using those skills to instead make dry, sparkling fruit wines was a natural transition.

“I had been looking for something along the lines of cherry champagne for years and was shocked to discover that nothing like that really existed at the time,” Elliott explained in a press release. “I thought ‘I can’t be the only one’ and started experimenting. After some success and a whole lot of hard work, FRUITBLOOD was born.”

FRUITBLOOD wine combines traditional winemaking grapes with other fruits, like peaches and sour pie cherries. Many of their wines are bottled before they’re done fermenting, creating a naturally sparkling finish similar to champagne. They also come with spicy names like their rosé, “Tasteful Nudes,” or the sour cherry wine “Love Bite.”

In addition to retail stores and bars, you can also buy FRUITBLOOD wine online or join their bottle club. More info: fruitblood.com.
