Milford City Manager Michael Doss, who resigned from his position last week, has been charged with soliciting sex from a minor, according to the Ohio Attorney General.

The City of Milford announced on Aug. 8 that Doss would immediately be stepping down from his position for "personal reasons," adding that an interim manager would be appointed “within the coming days” and that there would be no interruption to city services.

On Aug. 12, the Ohio Attorney General's office announced that Doss has been charged in the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas with one count of importuning, a fifth-degree felony. The release says Doss resigned on Friday "after he was confronted about the allegations."

"An undercover investigation by the Miami Valley Human Trafficking Task Force revealed that Doss allegedly attempted to purchase sex from an individual he believed was a 15-year-old girl," a press release from the AG's office reads. "Additional charges are anticipated in the case."

Details about the additional charges are not clear at this time.

Milford City Council voted unanimously to hire Doss in 2016 when he was city administrator of Buckhannon, West Virginia. Before that, Doss served as a city manager in both Indiana and Ohio.
He's also been an adjunct professor at West Virginia Wesleyan College, teaching undergraduate courses in state and local government as well as criminal law and procedure. He studied political science and criminal justice at Marshall University before earning a Master’s Degree in public administration from West Virginia University.
