A crocodile walks into Coffee Emporium, orders a latte and slides into an armchair. No, this isn’t an ill-conceived, Cincinnati-themed joke. This is real life. Don’t fret: This gator means no harm. He only wants a dose of caffeine and to take a short reprieve from his everlasting pursuit of Captain Hook, the latter of whom slid behind the barista bar for a stint.
Despite Disney’s portrayal, the duo actually looked quite chummy.
Back to reality: The cast of Cincinnati Ballet’s upcoming Peter Pan (composed by Carmon DeLeone) stormed Coffee Emporium’s downtown location to rev up hype for the performance at Music Hall, which runs Oct. 25-28.
The whimsical characters have also overtaken the cafe’s coffee-sleeves. According to Nicole Doll, Cincinnati Ballet’s communications manager, they plan to show Croc and Hook around town over the next two weeks. Their next stop?: “The next video will show the Croc flying...but not in the air.”
We have our guesses over at CityBeat, but maybe you can figure out the riddle yourself. Mostly, we’re just glad Croc decided to pick up a copy of our latest issue. (Hopefully he brought a few copies back to the swamp.)
The production follows the classic tale of the “boy who wouldn’t grow up.” With choreography by Septime Webre, attendees can expect to see dancers flying. The show kicks of DeLeone’s 50th anniversary with the company, who has also been named one of 2018’s ‘Real Men Wear Pink’ candidates — 10 percent of ticket sales on Oct. 25 will go toward the American Cancer Society.
