Much of our built environment was specifically designed to avoid the spread of diseases such as cholera, influenza, and tuberculosis. Journalist Elizabeth Yuko connects the early home design writing of Catharine Beecher and Harriet Beecher Stowe to the modern-day impact of disease and pandemics home design. Yuko is an award-winning journalist and bioethicist and an adjunct professor at Fordham University. She has been published in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Rolling Stone, The Atlantic, Architectural Digest, CityLab, Ms. Magazine, among others.
