HGTV Announced the Location of its Urban Oasis 2018 Sweepstakes Home — and it's in Cincinnati

HGTV is transforming a 3-bedroom, 2 1/2 bathroom Dutch Colonial Revival home at 2810 Hyde Park Avenue in Oakley* as part of its 2018 Urban Oasis project. The annual home giveaway sweepstakes renovates houses in different cities and gives them away as a prize. Last year's house — a craftsman bungalow in Knoxville, Tenn. — had 65 million entries. You won't be able to enter to win the just-announced Cincinnati home until Oct. 1, but you can follow along on the HGTV website for updates and to see when episodes of an associated TV show might air. While one could argue that Oakley isn't super "urban" per se, according to the TV promo, renovations are almost complete at the house. There aren't any photos of that yet, but there are plenty of before an in-process shots. Host Egypt Sherrod narrated the promo, calling Cincinnati "the perfect destination for outdoor enthusiasts, thrill seekers, and fans of amazing local food." There is also some other entertaining tidbits about city as viewed by outsiders here Cincinnati-based contractor Craig Russell, of The English Contractor, is assisting with the remodel with build manager/HGTV Design Star contestant Dan Faires, who is quoted in slideshow of the renovation as saying, "Remodeling HGTV Urban Oasis 2018 was an absolute dream. The Dutch Colonial Revival style gave this home so much architectural interest and terrific curb appeal, however, it presented some unique challenges structurally and spatially. Great architectural design and a new addition opened this house up, drastically improving the layout and flow of the home, while maintaining the historic charm and original character. I am slightly biased, but I feel this is one of the most dramatic transformations HGTV has ever done!"
