In just four months since opening its doors in Nov. 2020, the Purrfect Day Cafe in Covington is celebrating its 200th cat adoption.
Originally slated to open in June 2020, Chuck Patton, Purrprietor of Purrfect Day Cafe, had to put off the planned opening because of the pandemic.
The cafe partners with Kenton County Animal Services in Northern Kentucky, which provides the cats and kittens that are housed in the cafe.
Roughly 15 to 24 felines live at the Purrfect Day Cafe at a given time -- that is, until they are adopted and brought to their furrrrever home.
We knew Covington would be the Purrfect community to embrace such a unique concept, Patton says in a press release. Our goal is to get homeless kitties adopted, make strong donations to local shelters and be a space for all animal lovers to enjoy the culture of animal support.
Pattons idea to bring a cat cafe to Covington began in Charleston, South Carolina, when he visited Pounce. Inspired by his time at Pounce, he eventually opened Purrfect Day Cafe in Louisville in 2018.
I knew that I had to bring it to Louisville, and now I have the opportunity to bring it to Northern Kentucky where I was born and raised, Patton told CityBeat last March.
The cafe offers up some delicious treats to go along with your cuddly visit. Scones such as the bacon and cheddar Calico scone, Pawmpkin Spice scone, and Raspurry scone as well as cake pops and paw-pcorn are available.
Along with a regular cup of coffee, they offer various tea drinks, hot cocoa, frozen lemonade and soft drinks.
Visitors of age can even enjoy beer, wine, or even the Purrfect Meowmosa.
This partnership benefits many of the shelters in our region and has become an additional outlet for the homeless cats and kittens in the tri-state, Kenton County Animal Services director Beckey Reiter says in a press release. Its an example of what we can do as a community for shelter animals when we think outside the box. We are so excited about celebrating our 200th adoption.
Although anyone can view the cats through their visiting window, hour-long sessions should be reserved onlinefor $15to visit with the kitties. There are matchmakers at the cafe who can help find the right cat for you, and you will be able to take home your new furry family member the same day. The adoption fee is $120 (plus tax).
