Inside Over-the-Rhine's Losanti, a Boutique Steakhouse Overlooking Washington Park

The team behind downtown's Crown Republic Gastropub has opened a new restaurant in Over-the-Rhine. The boutique steakhouse is situated in the former Anchor-OTR space. Named Losanti, the title is a reference to the original Cincinnati settlement of Losantiville, which dates back to 1788. "Losanti pays homage to the Queen City’s roots, while foraging a new approach to steakhouse dining just steps from Washington Park," a press release reads. The steakhouse offers a non-traditional take on the typical white-tablecloth concept, featuring casual seating arrangements for diners, a bar and a patio that overlooks Washington Park and Music Hall. “We drew a lot of historic inspiration from the 1920s and '30s, as well as some contemporary spaces,” says co-owner Haley Sitek in the release. “It’s very warm and inviting, but still elegant.” Design-wise, guests can expect a marriage of rustic and industrial materials, velvet textiles and a cool color palette. A mural honoring the Arts District in which they're located is also featured. Losanti offers steakhouse favorites like prime filet mignon in addition to other non-steak entrees including pan-roasted salmon and double pork chops, plus shareable sides like Crown Republic's popular charred broccoli. "In addition to a streamlined menu of steaks by the ounce, frites, seafood and from-scratch pasta, Losanti has garnered a cocktail program that emphasizes classic cocktails and proper execution: a Manhattan made the way it would have been at the Manhattan Club in the early 1870s or an Old Fashioned made simple like at the Pendennis gentleman’s club in 1881, where it first got its name," the press release explains. Chef and co-owner Anthony Sitek said in the same release, “We wanted to offer a cocktail program that stayed true to the classics, and did them well." Reservations are available via OpenTable, but not required. Losanti is located at 1401 Race St., Over-the-Rhine.
