The Usable Past with Dr. Nikki M. Taylor

Dr. Nikki M. Taylor, Chair of the Department of History at Howard University, will be speaking at a lecture hosted by the Friends of Harriet Beecher Stowe House. Dr. Taylor’s talk is titled “The Usable Past: Atoning Cincinnati’s History as a Logical Step Towards Social and Racial Justice Today.” During her years teaching at the University of Cincinnati, Dr. Nikki M. Taylor made her mark in the field of American History with her provocative, thorough, and groundbreaking research on Cincinnati’s most notorious fugitive slave case—the trial of Margaret Garner, which was later adapted by Toni Morrison in the novel Beloved.
