The 101-year-old Little Dutch Bakery in Mount Healthy is set to close at the end of January.
Owner Chris Girmann announced the closure in a video posted to the bakery’s Facebook last week.
He says that after 40 years of operation in his hands and over 100 years in his family’s, Little Dutch will be closing its doors.
“We want to focus our health and energy on doing things we’ve never really had the chance to do,” Girmann says. He says they want to enjoy things like kayaking and visiting local breweries.
Girmann says he is hoping someone will take over the business, stating in the video that anyone interested should reach out to him.
“We’d like to thank everyone in the community,” he says, stating he "would have never been able to get this far" without his employees.
It looks like the community came through one last time, selling out the bakery’s entire stock the day after the video was posted.
Girmann said in a post that he hopes he has enough ingredients to last him the rest of the month and he warns he may be a bit behind as he is “pretty much kind of working by myself making the products.”
If you want to support Little Dutch Bakery one last time, you can order online or stop by the storefront at 7611 Hamilton Ave. in Mount Healthy.
