A Holiday-Themed Wizarding World Pop-Up Bar Comes to Over-the-Rhine

Gorilla Cinema Presents — the team behind local experiential bars and restaurants like Overlook Lodge, Tokyo Kitty and Tiki Tiki Bang Bang — takes the holidays very seriously and is once again transforming several of its establishments for the season, including its wizarding world-themed Pennifold's Pub.

Offering a little bit of Hogwarts in Over-the-Rhine, Pennifold's Pub turned the bar in the back of the Cosmic Gorilla comic book shop into a haven for Harry Potter fans this summer. And now it's gotten a Christmas makeover.

Pennifold’s Pub Holiday Magic offers an immersive themed experience for grown-ups and kids alike. The bar has been decked out in striped scarves for every house, with owls and fantastic beasts mixed in with garlands, ornaments and floating candles. Cocktails (and mocktails) include a warm butterscotch ale, like Harry Potter’s favorite Butterbeer, and a Pumpkin Delight with whiskey. Kids are welcome until 9 p.m.

Pennifold's Pub Holiday Magic is open through Dec. 31. Reservations are $5 for a bar seat, $10 per table for two and $20 per table of four.

Miracle at Overlook Lodge

Miracle at Overlook Lodge returns this year in what has become an annual boozy holiday tradition.

The Shining-themed Overlook transforms into a kitschy winter wonderland. There will be themed cocktails, like the tequila-infused Grandma Got Run Over by a T-Rex (in a dinosaur mug), plus tons of over-the-top decor, including tinsel, fake trees, strands of lights and plenty of ornaments stuck in every nook and cranny.

Advance tickets are required for a one-hour experience that includes a welcome shot and two drinks.

Miracle runs through Dec. 25. Tickets start at $35 for a seat at the bar and go up to $280 for eight people. This frequently sells out.

Sippin' Santa at Tiki Tiki Bang Bang

There's one more option for those wanting festive fun: Sippin’ Santa at Tiki Tiki Bang Bang.

Old Saint Nick is feeling the mele kalikimaka spirit at Tiki Tiki Bang Bang. The Sippin’ Santa pop-up goes tropical for the holidays with island decor and rum cocktails.

This experience is free and no tickets are required.
