National Ice Cream Day is July 18 and if you scream for ice cream, get ready to use your design skills to proclaim your love on paper.
114-year-old Cincinnati ice cream parlor and candy shop Aglamesis Bro's is hosting a poster contest to commemorate the holiday. The shop is asking artists to submit poster designs around the themes of "Cincinnati," "Aglamesis Bro's" and "National Ice Cream Day."
The artist behind the winning submission gets $300 and will have their poster printed in a limited-edition run by local Cryptogram design studio. They'll also get some Aglamesis goodies.
“We think this is a great opportunity to work with artists, and we hope our customers find this a fun way to celebrate National Ice Cream Day,” Kristi Weissman, the company’s general manager and a fourth generation member of the Aglamesis family, says in a release.
They hope to make the poster contest an annual tradition and the posters a yearly collectible.
The competition runs through 11:59 p.m. June 27 and is open to all those ages 18 and older in the Tri-State area. The winning poster will be sold on National Ice Cream Day — July 18 — at both the Oakley and Montgomery Algamesis shops.
Here are the design details:
Designs may use up to but not exceeding three (3) different colors, one of which must be a shade of pink (we recommend using one of the Aglamesis Brothers brand compliant pinks listed below). The remaining two colors may be determined by the artist, but pink, white, and black or brown are the recommended color combination for entries, and may increase the likelihood of a design being chosen as the winning piece.
