A vibrant new bar is opening its doors in Covington. Located in a historic firehouse, Second Story is an art-infused cocktail bar and patio that’s “a warm and inviting spot to gather with friends, toast to new beginnings, or to let loose into the night.”
You can find Second Story at 100 W. Sixth St. above Flying Axes. An official opening date hasn't been determined.
“Can’t wait for you all to meet [the team] … make some new friends and taste a few of the things we’ve been working on,” the bar posted on Instagram after a soft opening held for friends and family.
Second Story’s menu focuses on a selection of specialty cocktails, like the mojito-esque “Life of Leisure” (rhum agricole, white rum, mint syrup, lime juice and Angostura bitters) or “Three Sisters” (wheated bourbon, old fashioned syrup and “special sauce”), among others. They also have a list of wines and beers, including local craft brews like Fifty Wests’ Doom Pedal and Urban Artifact sours.
Second Story’s team says they’ve spent the past few months rehabbing the space and filling it with touches that make it look like a work of art itself, including colorful floor tiles, vibrant murals and installations and the main focus behind the bar: an enormous tree that appears to be growing from floor to ceiling. Outside is a spacious patio, a perfect spot for some refreshing cocktails on a warm night.
Second Story's hours will be from 4 p.m. to 12 a.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and from 4 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. Thursday through Sunday.
