National Brownie Day is Dec. 8 and Blue Ash's Buckabee Brownies is honoring the occasion by giving away free sweets.

Visit the shop at 4756 Cornell Road on Friday, Dec. 6 and Saturday, Dec. 7 to receive one free brownie per patron. Those over the age of 18 can also enter to win a box of 16 brownies every month for a year.

“We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate our very first National Brownie Day than giving away a free brownie,” said the owners, Miriam Spitz and her husband, Tom Kahan, in a release. “With so many variations and flavors, there is a brownie for every palate. We don’t know a single person who doesn’t like brownies.”

Buckabee Brownies opened in February 2019 as the first — and only — bakery in the city that specializes in brownies (and blondies, a brownie that substitutes vanilla for chocolate in the base batter). The shop offers 16 permanent and seasonal flavors ranging from more the traditional, like fudgy chocolate or chocolate and walnut, to more unique takes including red velvet cream cheese, lemon poppyseed and pumpkin.

In addition to brownies and blondies, the bakery also offers a "square of the day."

The mom-and-pop shop is owned by husband and wife Miriam Spitz and Tom Kahan, both from Cincinnati.
