Another day, another WalletHub study. But this time the results are pretty, pretty good for Cincinnati.
In the website's recent Best Foodie Cities in America list, Cincinnati took home top 25 honors, sliding in at No. 21 — sandwiched between Houston at No. 20 and Pittsburgh at No. 22.
So what does it take to make one a "foodie" city?
According to WalletHub, "'Authentic' foodies...not only crave new and different flavors but also savor the exploratory experience of eating, learning and discovering food."
That comes with a cost, with WalletHub saying restaurant prices rose 5.4% between July 2020 and July 2021 and grocery store prices rose 3.5% between 2019 and 2020.
The new "Best Foodie City" list measures both the best and most affordable food scenes across the U.S. More than 180 cities were compared across 29 metrics, including accessibility and affordability of high-quality restaurants; food trucks per capita; and food festivals per capita.
In one of those categories — most gourmet specialty food stores per capita — Cincinnati was No. 4 in the nation.
Which city is the most foodie-friendly in America? Portland, Oregon. And the least foodie place to be is Pearl City, Hawaii.
