Cincinnati Ranks in Top 25 Cities with the Most Craft Breweries

And Rhinegeist is apparently the city's most popular

Hello. Here's some news: Cincinnati has many craft breweries. In fact, according to Chicago-based research firm C+R Research, we are No. 25 in the nation for the "most breweries per 50,000 people."

The group looked at more than 500 different cities across the United States and, according to their methodology, used SteadyServ Technologies’ BreweryDB database to rank each city by the number of breweries per capita. "For readability and comparison purposes," they calculated the number of breweries in each city per 50,000 residents.

According to the study, if you like less people and more beer, Portland, Maine — which came in a No. 1 — has a population of 70,000 with 18 breweries per 50,000 people. Cincinnati has six breweries per 50,000 residents.

The report also says, "It's also interesting to note that large cities like Chicago, New York and Los Angeles don’t appear on this list. In fact, the only cities with a population of 250,000 or more on the list include Denver, Madison, Portland and Cincinnati."

C+R also listed the most popular brewery in each city — for us, that's Rhinegeist — by analyzing Google search volume.
