Time to level up, Cincinnati. Over-the-Rhine’s newest arcade bar will officially open Friday, Feb. 24.
Level One Bar + Arcade announced in October that it would move into the former 16 Bit Bar+Arcade space at 1331 Walnut St. This will be the arcade bar’s second location, with its first being in Columbus. Its lineup includes pinball machines and old-school arcade games, some of which come from owner Paul Burkhart’s original collection that he’s been curating for 25 years, according to a press release.
Guests can expect over 50 games, a dozen pinball machines and two skeeball lanes. In addition to the classics, Level One will also rotate a handful of rare titles throughout the year. It will also have a number of multiplayer games featuring a 4-player track and field to encourage friendly competition. All the games except pinball and skeeball will be free.
“I love hearing the excitement of people when they see a game they remember from their past,” Burkhart said in the release. “Level One is one of my fondest childhood memories come to life and I’m excited to share it with Cincinnati.”
Level One will have two dozen local beers on tap along with themed cocktails – including drinks named after Pong and Frogger. Food won’t be served at Level One, but Burkhart encourages guests to order takeout from local restaurants and vendors and even wants to implement a system to streamline food delivery to Level One.
Level One will be open Monday-Thursday from 4 p.m. to midnight, Friday from 4 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., Saturday from noon to 2:30 a.m. and Sunday from noon to midnight. It will also hold “mini-me” days where adults can bring their kids to experience the games they grew up playing.
