After more than a decade, MainStrasse's walk-up creamy whip window Piper's Cafe has rebranded as Piper's Ice Cream Bar, with a new menu full of alcohol-infused treats, artisan coffee drinks and family-friendly desserts.
A grand reopening will take place April 9, with live music from Kyle Knapp starting at 6:30 p.m. in the adjacent Hamelin Square Garden (weather permitting).
“By focusing on the sweet treats that we were already known for, we’re able to offer even more new concoctions including alcoholic ‘Adults Only’ beverages like our boozy shakes, beer or wine floats, coffee cocktails and Piper’s housemade and customizable hard seltzers,” co-owner Chip Adkins says in a release.
The new menu will include alcoholic milkshakes, malts, slushes and custom housemade hard seltzers, plus beer, wine and craft cocktails. For those with a sweet tooth or those who don't want alcohol, check out ice cream sandwiches, traditional soft serve, sundaes, ice balls and even "pup cups" for dogs. There will also be various lattes and coffee concoctions.
This weekend Piper's is open noon-11 p.m. each day, but normal hours will resume Monday, April 12. Piper's will be open 6:30 a.m.-2 p.m. on Mondays and 6:30 a.m.-11 p.m. Tuesdays-Saturdays going forward.
Those paying a visit to Piper’s will be able to enjoy their treats in Hamelin Square Garden, where guests can also order food from neighbors El Valle Verde and Zazou.
“After spending so much time inside these last few months due to the cold weather and the pandemic, people are seeking outdoor venues for social activities,” co-owner Charles Killian says. “That’s why we’re excited to offer our family-friendly venue as a great space for our guests to enjoy socializing in a safe, outdoor setting. “
